MILES OF BEACH ON SOUTH PADRE

We had the trailer parked by noonish and since the
weather had warmed up from the high 30s in Harlingen to the 60's on the island, it was time to go for a bike ride! 3 miles! And most of it was on the beach.
The entire south end of Padre Island belongs to the county park and campground. The very north end of the island is ALL sand dunes! The middle 4 miles is condo's, motels, marinas and seafood restaurants. Wall to wall and brand new - thanks to all those hurricanes. Built right back on the beaches again. Will people never learn ?? These are eternally shifting sands on this sand bar.

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND

Look what Harry found on the beach !! Well, almost. On our way out to South Padre Island, we stopped at one of the several tourist shopping places along the way. There were these dinosaurs and a bunch of shells and dolphins and such out front. What a fun photo op! Too bad you folks don't get to see him feed that big boy! Or me with those 2 cuties in the background.

We have moved from Harlingen Texas out to the county park campground on South Padre. The area is great but the "facilities" are not. Everything else is good so we can deal with that. We're here for only a week so it'll be just fine!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM US
The last day of 2007 was really great 80 degrees and a great day at the pool and a cook out in evening, However New Years Day is cooler ,cloudy, and windy out. 9am and only 53 . Almost missed the coming of the New Year, good thing the fireworks going off woke me up enough to hear the New Year arrive.
That is the news for now, signing off and heading out to breakfast.
